Reaction to fire applies to products, and fire resistance to the structure. When characterizing these two concepts, the following critical elements should be mentioned:
Fire resistance
• rise of temperature
• collapse of the structure
• structural integrity
Reaction to fire:
• flammability
• ignition capability
• smoking
• toxicity
Fire resistance
When talking about the fire resistance of building elements, we use REI type markings 30, Where : R is the fire load, E is fire integrity, And it's fire insulation, 30 (sample value) is the time expressed in minutes.
Reaction to fire:
After Poland's accession to the European Union, our regulations had to undergo a process of adapting them to the requirements applicable throughout the EU. The result of this process was the adoption by Poland of a new fire classification – Euroclass – for building materials. At the moment we use Euroclasses, which reflect the individual parameters
Reaction to fire
A1 no flashover, no contribution to fire development
A2 no flashover, no contribution to fire development
B no flashover, very little contribution to the development of the fire
C flashover between 10a 20 minute, little contribution to the development of the fire
D flashover in between 2 a 10 minute, average contribution to fire development
E flashover before expiry 2 minutes, significant contribution to the development of fire
F unclassified products
The ability to emit smoke .(smoke is the cause of over in EU countries 60% deaths in fires)
s1 little or no smoke
s2 quite a lot of smoke
S3 significant smoke production
Release of flaming drops (droplets from the melting of the material can spread the fire to other objects)
01 lack
02 several
03 A lot
For example – all mineral wool products are classified as: A1 lubA2,s1 ,d0
